On 4th January, 1915, the 1st Honourable Artillery Company battalion of 8 Brigade, 3rd Division moved into the front line at Kemmel in Belgium where they remained until relieved on 8th January. At 9am on 6th January, the day on which Percival Ellis died from wounds, an officer and three men were wounded by enfilade machine-gun fire. |
